Statement from Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere

“Today, following the tragic shooting at the STEM School in Colorado, Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump met privately with the Douglas County first responders and law enforcement officials to offer the country’s gratitude for their heroic actions. Sheriff Tony Spurlock briefed her and introduced her to the officials who responded to the scene. She delivered a message on behalf of the President that we stand with them, the Highlands Ranch community and the people of Colorado as they grieve and we are tremendously grateful for the bravery and swift action as they intervened to prevent even greater loss. The officers expressed their gratitude to the President for his steadfast support and to ATF, FBI, and DHS for their rapid mobilization and support. They also thanked the USSS for their collaboration and their US Attorney who has been in constant contact. At the conclusion, Advisor Trump asked to join together for a moment of prayer and the chaplain of the sheriff’s office prayed for the victims, their families and the community and asked for God’s comfort and healing in the wake of this tragedy.”
