BREAKING: Trump Working-Class Boom Smashes Expectations! 1600 Daily The White House • December 6, 2019

1600 Daily
The White House • December 6, 2019
We just had to email you about this.

The contrast is incredible. Despite House Democrats holding Congress captive with their endless investigations, impeachment stunts, and obstruction, President Trump is delivering on his biggest promise to our citizens—restoring the American Dream in every corner of our great country!

Once again, the Trump Economy absolutely smashed “expert” predictions with today’s Jobs Report:
  • The unemployment rate fell to 3.5%—matching its lowest level in 50 years.

  • Economists had expected the economy to add 185,000 jobs. It added 266,000.

  • Economists had predicted 15,000 more manufacturing jobs. We got 54,000.

  • Compared with last year, average hourly wages are up more than 3%.

  • The number of Americans working rose to 158,593,000—a record high.

Here’s the full update from the Council of Economic Advisers, but one paragraph in particular tells you everything you need to know about the blue-collar, middle-class Trump Boom:

From [the end of the Great Recession] to the end of 2016, average wage growth for production and nonsupervisory workers lagged that of managers, the bottom 10 percent of wage earners lagged that of the top 10 percent, those without a college degree lagged that of college graduates, and African Americans lagged that of white Americans. Since President Trump took office, each of these trends has been reversed, contributing to lower income inequality.

How’s that for Morning in America?

Presidential Message on the 154th Anniversary of the Ratification of the 13th Amendment

Office of the Press Secretary

Presidential Message on the 154th Anniversary of the Ratification of the 13th Amendment

On this day in 1865, the United States ratified the 13th Amendment to our Constitution, abolishing slavery and setting our Nation on a path that would ensure that the blessings of liberty endowed to us by our Creator were secured for all Americans.

America was founded on the conviction that “all men are created equal.”  However, it was not until nearly a century after these words were written that the law of the land reflected this fundamental truth for African Americans.  On that historic December day 154 years ago, Georgia became the 27th State to ratify the 13th Amendment, forever removing the shackles of slavery and untying the bonds of hate and oppression that had denied millions of African Americans their God-given rights of “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Despite suffering the horrors of slavery and all that flowed from this inexcusable and cruel act against humanity, African Americans have been instrumental in building and bolstering our great Nation.  From enrichening our culture and enhancing our American identity to strengthening our economy and safeguarding our cherished freedoms, the remarkable courage and steadfast resolve of African Americans define the American spirit.

While tremendous progress has been made since the ratification of the 13th Amendment, much work remains to be done to end the scourge of racism that plagues our communities and country.  My Administration will continue to work diligently to unite our people and strengthen the bonds we share.  Together, we can build a society that fosters more meaningful relationships and a deeper respect for all Americans.

Today, as we commemorate one of the most monumental landmarks in our Nation’s history, we remember those who endured the torments of bondage and those who lost their lives to slavery.  We can—and we must—resolve to always fiercely safeguard our precious liberties and cherished freedoms so future generations may enjoy the promise of America.

Presidential Proclamation on National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, 2019

Office of the Press Secretary
National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, 2019

- - - - - - -

By the President of the United States of America

A Proclamation

Seventy-eight years ago today, the course of our Nation's history was forever altered by the surprise attack at Pearl Harbor on Oahu, Hawaii.  On National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we solemnly remember the tragic events of that morning and honor those who perished in defense of our Nation that day and in the ensuing 4 years of war.

Just before 8 a.m. on December 7, 1941, airplanes launched from the Empire of Japan's aircraft carriers dropped bombs and torpedoes from the sky, attacking our ships moored at Naval Station Pearl Harbor and other military assets around Oahu.  Following this swift assault, the United States Pacific Fleet and most of the Army and Marine airfields on the island were left decimated.  Most tragically, 2,335 American service members and 68 civilians were killed, marking that fateful day as one of the deadliest in our Nation's history.

Despite the shock of the attack, American service members at Pearl Harbor fought back with extraordinary courage and resilience.  Sprinting through a hailstorm of lead, pilots rushed to the few remaining planes and took to the skies to fend off the incoming Japanese attackers.  Soldiers on the ground fired nearly 300,000 rounds of ammunition and fearlessly rushed to the aid of their wounded brothers in arms.  As a solemn testament to the heroism that abounded that day, 15 American servicemen were awarded the Medal of Honor -- 10 of which were awarded posthumously.  In one remarkable act of bravery, Doris "Dorie" Miller, a steward aboard the USS West Virginia, manned a machine gun and successfully shot down multiple Japanese aircraft despite not having been trained to use the weapon.  For his valor, Miller was awarded the Navy Cross and was the first African-American recognized with this honor.

In the wake of this heinous attack, the United States was left stunned and wounded.  Yet the dauntless resolve of the American people remained unwavering and unbreakable.  In his address to the Congress the following day, broadcast to the Nation over radio, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt assured us that "[w]ith confidence in our armed forces, with the unbounding determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph."  In the days, months, and years that followed, the full might of the American people, industry, and military was brought to bear on our enemies.  Across the Atlantic and Pacific, 16 million American servicemen and women fought to victory, making the world safe for freedom and democracy once again.  More than 400,000 of these brave men and women never returned home, giving their last full measure of devotion for our Nation.

While nearly eight decades have passed since the last sounds of battle rang out over Pearl Harbor, we will never forget the immeasurable sacrifices these courageous men and women made so that we may live today in peace and prosperity.  We continue to be inspired by the proud legacy left by the brave patriots of the Greatest Generation who served in every capacity during World War II, from keeping factories operating on the home front to fighting on the battlefields in Europe, North Africa, and the South Pacific.  Their incredible heroism, dedication to duty, and love of country continue to embolden our drive to create a better world and galvanize freedom-loving people everywhere under a common cause.  On this day, we resolve forever to keep the memory of the heroes of Pearl Harbor alive as a testament to the tremendous sacrifices they made in defense of freedom and all that we hold dear.

The Congress, by Public Law 103-308, as amended, has designated December 7 of each year as "National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day."

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim December 7, 2019, as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.  I encourage all Americans to observe this solemn day of remembrance and to honor our military, past and present, with appropriate ceremonies and activities.  I urge all Federal agencies and interested organizations, groups, and individuals to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff in honor of those American patriots who died as a result of their service at Pearl Harbor.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this
sixth day of December, in the year of our Lord two thousand nineteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-fourth.

                             DONALD J. TRUMP

Statement from the Press Secretary
Yesterday, the Ninth Circuit lifted two district court injunctions and held that the Trump Administration should be able to enforce a regulation implementing a statute passed by Congress that has declared for over a century that any alien who “is likely at any time to become a public charge is inadmissible.”  The new regulation replaced guidance issued by the Clinton Administration in 1999 that had unduly narrowed the Federal statute.  The Ninth Circuit has rightly recognized the Administration's authority to adopt an interpretation of the “public charge” restriction more faithful to and consistent with the scope of the statute passed by Congress.

Unfortunately, as a practical matter, the ruling has accomplished nothing to vindicate the rule of law due to the destructive practice of individual district judges taking over national policy issues by issuing nationwide injunctions.   Although the Ninth Circuit lifted the two injunctions issued by district courts within the Ninth Circuit, two other nationwide injunctions have been issued by individual district judges in New York and Maryland—and those orders prevent the regulation from being applied anywhere—even in the Ninth Circuit.  In practical effect, nationwide injunctions give any district judge the power to tell a panel of a Federal court of appeals that its ruling does not matter and that it cannot affect the actual implementation of the law.  Such subversions of the rule of law must come to an end.  The judicial system must address the grave danger that nationwide injunctions present and ensure that district courts do not grossly overstep the role the Founders intended in our careful system of checks and balances.

Office of the Press Secretary
REMARKS BY PRESIDENT TRUMP
AT THE NATIONAL CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY

The Ellipse
Washington, D.C.

5:33 P.M. EST

THE PRESIDENT:  Thank you very much, Secretary Bernhardt.  We also have with us very special people: Congressman Jim Jordan, Congressman Mark Meadows, and Representative John Ratcliffe.  It's an honor to be with everyone tonight.

And all across our land, Melania and I would like to wish you a very, very Merry Christmas.  And now, the First Lady will do the honors of lighting the National Christmas Tree.

So we'll count from five down to that very special number.  Five, four, three, two, one!  (Applause.)

That's great.  (Music plays.)  That's beautiful.  Thank you very much.

And let us show our appreciation to the incredible workers at the Department of the Interior and the National Park Service, please.  Did such an incredible job.  (Applause.)  Thank you very much.

And thank you, as well, to the U.S. Marine Corps Band and the Tucson Arizona Boys Choir.  You know that.  The chorus is fantastic.  And thank you very much, Tucson Arizona.  Thank you very much.

I also want to thank a special group of young, wonderful people: West Tennessee Youth Chorus.  They're here and they're doing beautifully.  (Applause.)

In 1923, President Calvin Coolidge lit the first National Christmas Tree.
Later that night, African American community centers held an outdoor worship service on these grounds.  And during that service, the Washington Monument was illuminated with a beautiful cross, a powerful reminder of the meaning of Christmas.

More than 2,000 years ago, a brilliant star shone in the East.  Wise men traveled far, far afield.  I mean, they were a long distance away.  And they came and they stood with us under the star, where they found the Holy Family in Bethlehem.  As the Bible tells us, when the Wise Men “had come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary, his mother, and fell down and worshipped him.”

Christians give thanks that the Son of God came into the world to save humanity.  Jesus Christ inspires us to love one another with hearts full of generosity and grace.

Joining us today are David and Sharron Hudson of the Salvation Army.  Each year, through their Angel Tree program, the Salvation Army brings new gifts to more than 600,000 children.  David and Sharron are an inspiration to us all.  And, David and Sharron, thank you very much for being with us.  Thank you.  (Applause.)

Also with us is Sarah Verardo, the wife of a wounded hero and the CEO of Independence Fund, which serves wounded warriors. During the holidays, Sarah gives high-tech wheelchairs to veterans and hosts Christmas celebrations for those in recovery.  Does a fantastic job.  And, Sarah, thank you very much.  You're uplifting our nation.  Thank you very much.  Thank you, Sarah.  (Applause.)  Thank you.

We're forever in debt to the brave veterans and service members.  We applaud their noble service.  There is nobody like them.  They are an inspiration to us all.  We also salute our incredible police and sheriffs, federal law enforcement, Secret Service, as well as our firefighters, paramedics, and first responders.  And thank you all for being here.  We have a lot of you here.  And again, very, very incredible, special people.  Thank you very much for being here.  (Applause.)

And here tonight is Pastor Obed Jauregui of Bethany Church in Nazarene, in Miami.  His congregation serves Thanksgiving meals to families in need, and now they are preparing their annual toy drive.  Pastor Obed, thank you very much.  And we really do appreciate you being with us.  You're a special man who has done an incredible job.  People are talking about you all over our country.  What a great job you've done.  Thank you very much, Pastor.  (Applause.)

And at Christmas, we remember this eternal truth: Every person is a beloved child of God.  As one grateful nation, we praise the joy of family, the blessings of freedom, and the miracle of Christmas.

On behalf of Melania and our entire family, Merry Christmas and God bless you all.  Thank you very much.  Merry Christmas, everybody.  Thank you.  (Applause.)

Read the White House’s response to Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s impeachment stunt

Back in March, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi inadvertently previewed what would happen if Democrats rewarded their far-left base with a partisan impeachment stunt.

“Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country,” she said.

Many rolled their eyes—not because Pelosi was wrong, but because they knew that liberal Democrats would force the Speaker’s hand sooner or later. Sure enough, this morning, she announced that House Democrats would pursue articles of impeachment.

Press Secretary: Here’s what Congress could’ve been doing this week.

Keep in mind: In October, two moderate Democrats broke with the far left and joined all Republicans in voting against just the impeachment probe. In other words, even their phony “investigation” itself had bipartisan opposition. An actual impeachment vote is only more likely to drive a wedge between mainstream Americans and House liberals.

Speaker Pelosi and her caucus are now rushing full-speed ahead toward the fastest impeachment in American history. Why is that? It turns out the more Americans pay attention to what Democrats are doing, the more public support for impeachment drops. Democrat leaders thought that hours of free advertising through marathon TV hearings would work, but when witness after witness failed to produce any evidence of actual criminal wrongdoing by the President, most Americans tuned out.

So Pelosi was right, of course. A partisan impeachment stunt to appease the left’s anti-Trump base will divide our country deeply. House Democrats just don’t care.

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham issued the following statement today in response to Speaker Pelosi’s announcement:

"At this morning’s press conference, Speaker Nancy Pelosi could have finally announced a vote on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement that would immediately help America’s farmers, ranchers, businesses, and workers; or outlined a plan to work with the President to lower prescription drug prices; or addressed our Nation’s infrastructure.

Instead, Speaker Pelosi did exactly what she always does – ignore the needs of the American people and advance her selfish political desires. Democrats’ sham impeachment is a blatant, purely partisan attempt to overturn the results of a free and fair election. By their own admission, Democrats say they have to ‘impeach the President’ because they cannot defeat him at the ballot box."

The line the Swamp doesn’t want you see

There’s something Democrats weren’t counting on when they decided to make their impeachment blitz official in September. Right after Speaker Pelosi launched the probe, President Trump released the full transcript of his call with Ukrainian President Zelensky.

All the information House Democrats were hoping to dig up—and then selectively leak to their friends in the media—became instantly available to every American citizen.

One line from that call came up during this week’s hearing, as Democrat witnesses tried to spin President Trump’s request for Ukraine to investigate corruption into a personal political favor.

Here’s what President Trump actually said: “I would like you to do us a favor though, because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it.” The President goes on to call out potential foul play and meddling during the 2016 election.

The language makes clear that President Trump’s focus was on keeping his promise to the American people. For more than three years, after all, Washington politicians have claimed to want to get to the bottom of any potential corruption in our elections. Yet when it’s Democrats who may get in trouble, the Swamp fights to cover it up—every time.

Given that Speaker Pelosi is the same person who said, “We have to pass [Obamacare] so that you can find out what’s in it,” it’s fair to ask a simple question: Did she bother to read the Ukraine transcript, either?
