REMARKS BY PRESIDENT TRUMP AFTER AIR FORCE ONE ARRIVAL

The White House Office of the Press Secretary FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 24, 2020 REMARKS BY PRESIDENT TRUMP AFTER AIR FORCE ONE ARRIVAL Rickenbacker International Airport Columbus, Ohio 4:19 P.M. EDT THE PRESIDENT: So we have a tremendous crowd, as you know. That’s the governor. And we just had a little talk, and we have a tremendous crowd. And I’m watching the crowds that are being drawn by my opponent and his predecessor -- the predecessor. I looked at the crowd that was -- President Obama had. Not too big. Not too big. I don't know if that’s an indication of anything, but there’s nobody there. And we have -- the governor was just telling me we have tens of thousands of people. And we’ve had it everywhere. Then we’re going to Wisconsin. I hear the crowds are very big up in Wisconsin. And we’re going to do -- so we’re doing two more today, and then we’re doing a number tomorrow. And we’re going to take this right up until the end. And then I suspect I’ll rest for about two hours. But we’ll what happens. But I think we’re doing very well. The numbers are coming in unbelievably well. I don’t believe the media is talking about them. I’m not sure the media knows exactly what’s happening yet. But in Florida, we’re doing very well. North Carolina, doing very well. Iowa, doing very well. The governor was just telling me that, in Ohio, we’re doing great. I think they’ve pulled back -- pulled out. Something happened. But they seem to have pulled out. And we’ll see what happens. We’ll see what happens. Q What worries you the most from here on out? What worries you the most? THE PRESIDENT: Well, we have 10 days. And, you know, nothing worries me. It’s -- I think we’re doing just very well. If you look at the numbers in Florida, we’re way ahead where we were four years ago, right? Way ahead where we were four years ago. And I think I can say that everywhere else. In North Carolina, we’re way ahead where we were four year ago. I think it’s very good. I don't know if it’s a hidden vote. I don't know exactly what it is. But we’ve had some polls come out -- very strong polls in Trafalgar -- he’s -- he’s one -- he called it very accurately last time -- that we’re two points up in Michigan, in the Trafalgar poll, which has been a very accurate poll. And so we’ll be going up to Michigan very soon. But we’re leaving -- as you know, from here, we’re going to Wisconsin. And tomorrow we have a full day. Q Mr. President, what specific indicators are you looking at in Florida and North Carolina? THE PRESIDENT: Well, if you look at the vote, the early vote, it’s not nearly what they thought it would be. It’s just not what they thought. We’re going to have a great red wave. It’s going to be a red wave like you’ve never seen before, because people are tired of looking at the anarchists and all of the things taking place in Portland, Chicago, New York, with crime. They’re tired of it. But you’re going to have a red wave the likes of which you haven’t seen. And everybody knows it. And they -- you know, I don’t think they’re doing very well. They have no enthusiasm. Look, Obama shows up for a speech, and nobody shows. What did he have yesterday? Thirty-two people showed up? We’ve got 35-, 40,000 people half the time. What’s my smallest crowd been? Twenty thousand, twenty-two thousand people? Right, Steve? You know. Q Mr. President, there are some coronavirus cases rising in Wisconsin. THE PRESIDENT: You used the word “cases.” You know why there’s so many cases? Because we test. Because we test more than any country in the world. Nobody tests like us. “Cases.” Everybody uses the word “cases.” Mortality, way down. Way down. And a lot of those cases that you’re talking about are young people -- very young people that get better 99.9. They get better almost immediately. No, you use the word “case” because you’re trying to scare people. Don’t scare people. Don’t scare people. The fact is that we’re doing very well. The vaccines are coming out. The therapeutics are coming out. But we have more testing than any country in the world. That includes India with 1.5 billion people. Nobody tests like us. We test more. Now, the good news is we know where it may be. The bad news is, anytime you test, you’re going to come up with cases. But you just used the word; it’s “cases.” Q Well, I just wanted to ask, sir, if there was any concern about bringing people together. Q But you called testing “foolish.” Why would you call it -- THE PRESIDENT: Say it? Say it? Q You called testing “foolish.” Why would you call it “foolish” while cases are spreading? THE PRESIDENT: I don’t -- I don’t -- I can’t hear you with your mask on. Thank you very much. Q Did you vote for Laura Loomer today? Have you voted -- THE PRESIDENT: Did I vote? Q Did you vote for Laura Loomer? THE PRESIDENT: I voted straight Republican. Thank you. END 4:25 P.M. EDT

Obamacare’s Illusion of Preexisting Condition Protections

“President Trump’s recent executive order laying out his ‘America-First Healthcare Plan’ makes clear his continued commitment to the long-standing, bipartisan consensus that we should protect people with preexisting conditions. Unfortunately, the previous administration’s attempt to make good on that consensus—Obamacare—has failed to deliver on its promises,” CMS Administrator Seema Verma writes in National Review.

“It’s time the national debate over Obamacare finally confronts this reality.”

“In ten days, we expect a report that says third quarter real GDP rebounded at a 33.4% annual rate,” economist Brian Wesbury writes. “The sharp rebound in Q3 is a testament to the underlying strength of the US economy before the shutdowns . . . Moreover, the US entered this government-mandated recession with the highest incomes and lowest poverty rate we have ever recorded.” Read more in RealClearPolitics.
“I have always said that HUD’s true measure of success is not how many individuals we can get onto our assistance programs, but how many we can lift out of government assistance and set on the path to self-sufficiency. Under Trump’s leadership, there is a rising tide lifting all boats,” Housing & Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson writes for the Washington Examiner.
“President Trump announced Monday that he will be removing Sudan from the State Department’s state sponsors of terrorism list after the Sudanese government agreed to pay $335 million in compensation for families of American victims of terrorism . . . Joint Statement by the United States, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the State of Israel

Office of the Press Secretary

Joint Statement by the United States, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the State of Israel

Yesterday, delegations from the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United States of America, and the State of Israel met in Manama.

Bahrain and Israel signed a historic Joint Communique on the Establishment of Diplomatic, Peaceful and Friendly Relations, marking the new and promising era in their relationship. Bahrain and Israel also signed Memorandums of Understanding regarding economic and trade cooperation, air services, agriculture, telecommunications and postal services, visas, financial services, cooperation between Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and cooperation between Chambers of Commerce. In addition, working groups met to discuss a wide range of additional areas for potential cooperation, including healthcare, port services, sports, and culture.

The opening of direct relations between two of the Middle East’s most dynamic nations will contribute to a more secure and prosperous future for the peoples of both countries and the wider region.

This historic diplomatic breakthrough has been facilitated by the Abraham Accords initiative of President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America. It follows the 11 September 2020 agreement between His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to open an era of cooperation between the two nations. This diplomatic step was followed by the signing of the Peace Declaration between Bahrain and Israel in Washington on 15 September 2020, to endorse the principles of the Abraham Accords and to open a new chapter of peace.

This chapter is a continuation of determined regional and international efforts to advance peace in the Middle East and is a testament to the bold vision and leadership exhibited by the three countries to innovate in diplomacy for sustainable peace and prosperity. The three countries face a range of interdependent challenges and will mutually benefit from today’s historic milestone.

Yesterday’s historic signing brings together two of America’s friends and partners in the Middle East.

The Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Israel will join with the United States to advance a Strategic Agenda for peace and prosperity in the Middle East, and expand avenues for cooperation that are anchored within shared values and interests. The three nations are aligned in their views on the challenges, threats and opportunities present in the region. Through closer security cooperation, public diplomacy and engagement on the economy, technology and other shared interests, including the promotion of co-existence, people-to-people engagement and a culture of peace, the region’s potential can be unlocked. Today’s agreements will lead to better lives for the peoples of Bahrain, Israel, and the region.

The parties will continue their efforts to achieve a just, comprehensive and enduring resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Israel trust that this development will contribute to a future in which all peoples and all faiths can live together in the spirit of cooperation and enjoy peace and prosperity where states are focused on shared interests and building a better future.

The Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Israel express their deep appreciation to the United States of America in securing a more stable, secure and prosperous Middle East.

REMARKS BY PRESIDENT TRUMP BEFORE AIR FORCE ONE DEPARTURE Phoenix International Airport Phoenix, Arizona

Office of the Press Secretary
REMARKS BY PRESIDENT TRUMP
BEFORE AIR FORCE ONE DEPARTURE

Phoenix International Airport
Phoenix, Arizona

2:43 P.M. MST

THE PRESIDENT:  So that was a great stop, and now we're going to Tucson, and -- quick trip, but we have a tremendous crowd there also.

This was an impressive crowd we just left.  Do you agree?

     Q    It was a very --

THE PRESIDENT:  I mean, I think you would agree with that.  We're doing very well in Arizona.

Q    Is your fate tied with Senator McSally and her reelection?  Or (inaudible) voters --

THE PRESIDENT:  No, I don’t think there's anything to do.   I think she's doing fine.  It's a separate -- I've always viewed that as being highly overrated, and I think we're very separated, but we support each other fully.

But I've never been a believer that somebody -- that you're tied together.  I don’t -- I don’t believe that.  I know I'm doing very well.  I don’t know what her numbers are.  I haven’t looked.  But I hope she does well.  She's a very good person.  I know my numbers, as you know, are very good in Arizona.

Q    How are you feeling about the Senate more generally?

THE PRESIDENT:  It's close -- the Senate.  The Senate is not -- you know, look, as we just discussed with Kelly, I think they're very untied.  It's not, you know, a lot of people think,
"Oh, are they tied with Trump?"  Meaning, “tied together.”  I think that's highly overrated.  Highly overrated.

But I think we have some really good races that are happening.  I'm hearing that John James is doing very well, as an example.  I think we have some very good ones.  We have some very close ones.  And I think I'm doing very well.

I'm an individual.  I think I'm doing very well, as an individual.  And you probably -- I probably helped some.  I don't think I hurt anybody.  But I don't -- I don't view them as being tied together.  I never did.  I think that you can have very separate.

I could do fantastically well in a state, and we could have a sendidate [sic] -- Senate candidate that does unbelievably badly.  I don't think it has anything to do.  It could -- it could -- it could be something nice, but I don't think it has anything to do, and I was never a big believer in that theory.

Q    How's your stamina after campaigning for a week?

THE PRESIDENT:  I think really good.  I mean, you people can tell me better than I can.  I think really good.  I feel great.  I don't think anybody can do what I do.  You know, when you get up before that many people -- you saw that crowd.  You were there.  When you get up before that many people three or four times a day, there aren't too many people that can do that, and I really have no problem doing it.  I'm doing it because it's important to do.  I have to do it, and I think it's very important.

And I think when I leave a crowd like that -- and that's got to be 20,000 people.  Did you see them coming in at the -- it was incredible.  When you leave a crowd like that -- and I've had only crowds like that.  We've had no small crowd, whether it's in Pennsylvania or anyplace else.  Every single place has been like this, and I think there's not a person out of all of those thousands and thousands of people that won't be voting and won't be voting for me.  And I think it spreads out to much bigger even than the crowd itself.

Q    Mr. President, what is the emotion that you are campaigning with?  You seem more aggressive.  Are you running angry, running scared?  How would you describe it?

THE PRESIDENT:  No, I'm not running scared.  I'm running angry because -- I think I'm running angry, I'm running happy, and I'm running very content because I've done a great job.  And I think that's the reason you have such crowds like this.

You could go back into politics 200 years and there's never been a politician that's drawn crowds like this.  I don't care who it is, and I don't care who you use and when you talk about it.  And when -- you know, we're talking about two weeks before, but I would -- I would have these crowds six months before, too.  It's the same thing.

And, you know, you may have a crowd like that for somebody one night before -- the night before the election, as you know -- where they'll have one crowd like that.  But we have them, you know, very early on.  No, I think very content.  Very content.

The reason those people are there is they love the job I’ve done.  In the end, that’s what it’s got to be about.  But there’s a certain anger because there’s a lot of very unfairness going on here.

Joe Biden is a corrupt politician, and you people aren’t covering that, and that’s not fair.

Q    Should the FBI be investigating Hunter Biden?

THE PRESIDENT:  Yeah, the FBI should be investigating.  I don’t know if they are or not, but they should be investigating him.  And you’ll have to call Wray and ask him.  But that is -- and why did they have those -- and did they have it?  Did they have that laptop for a long time and not do anything with it?

And that’s a question the Washington Times is going to have to look into.  But certainly, the FBI should be investigating it because, on its face, he’s guilt as can be.  There is not even a question about it.  On its face, he shouldn’t be allowed to run.  So we’ll see how it goes.

Q    Mr. President, what are you doing to try win over voters who aren’t the folks who are at the rallies, they’re not the folks watching Fox News?  What are you doing?

THE PRESIDENT:  Yeah, I think that we’re winning over voters by having such a success.  Look, our stock market is almost at the all-time high in our history.  And that’s with a pandemic.  And I know you don’t like saying this, but -- and I believe we’re rounding the turn on the pandemic very substantially and the vaccines will come out.

But with all of this, we have the best 401(k)s we’ve ever had.  We’ve had the best stocks, the best stock market, which is -- you know, whether you like stock market or not, it’s a leading indicator -- the all-time leading indicator.  And many people have stocks.  But whether they have stocks or 401(k)s, so -- you know, I mean, we’re doing incredibly well.

And we wouldn’t be doing that well if I didn’t build a foundation, because we got hit with a pandemic; we got hit with the China virus.  And if we didn’t have the strong foundation, we could never have a stock market -- I mean, think of it.  We have a stock market that’s as high as it was, just about, before we got hit by the pandemic.  We have housing numbers that are better.  We have enthusiasm numbers, in terms of the country, that are better.  And when the Gallup poll comes out last week and says 56 percent of the country are happier now than they were when Obama-Biden had their wonderful administration, I mean, that’s a great compliment.

So I’m really very happy.  I’m very happy with the way it’s going.  I don’t think it’s being covered fairly.  I don’t think you’re showing the kind of enthusiasm.  I don’t think you’re showing the crowds and the crowd size.  You did, in the Washington Times.  I appreciate that.  But, for the most part, they’re not.

But these are the largest crowds ever to meet for rallies, by far.  Not even by a little bit.  And I don’t think people are showing, in terms of the media, the enthusiasm.  But the main thing is the people know.  One thing I’ve found out: The public is very smart.  They get it.

So I’ll see you at the next stop, okay?  Tucson.

Q    So just for -- if we did not know the answer on November 3rd, would you do other rallies waiting until there was a result?

THE PRESIDENT:  Well, we’ll have to see.  I think you’ll know.  I hope you’re going to know the answer on November 3rd.  That would be the best thing.  Knowing the answer is very important.  Thank you.

Q    (Inaudible) five rallies a day, sir?

THE PRESIDENT:  I might.  The last two or three days, we may go to five.

     Q    Five?

     THE PRESIDENT:  Five.

1600 Daily The White House • October 19, 2020 UPDATE: New border wall nears 400 miles

1600 Daily
The White House • October 19, 2020

UPDATE: New border wall nears 400 miles

President Trump is in Arizona today, where average family incomes hit a record high and the poverty rate hit a record low in 2019 after just three years of President Trump’s pro-growth, pro-worker policies.

Arizona, much like the rest of our country, also benefited from President Trump’s commitments to secure our border and fix America’s broken immigration system.

As of today, more than 370 miles of new border wall is complete. Just as important, the Trump Administration is prosecuting and deporting violent criminals, stopping the flow of illegal drugs, and closing loopholes that help smugglers and hurt our own citizens.

“The refugee system—set up to provide refuge for victims of war and persecution who had nowhere else to go, often on an explicitly temporary basis—had long since become a racket,” National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd writes.

It provided prestigious jobs in Washington for ‘resettlement experts’ and taxpayer money for glorified slumlords, while generating massive fallout for unsuspecting American communities. Today the system has finally been returned to its proper role.”

With other strong actions from the Trump Administration, including building the border wall, apprehensions for illegal immigration dropped 70% between last May and this August. And during the past fiscal year alone, U.S. law enforcement seized over 100,000 pounds of cocaine, 83,000 pounds of meth, 2,700 pounds of fentanyl, and more.

Illegal immigration hurts everyone. It empowers criminals, bankrolls human smugglers, and fuels transnational gangs. It costs both legal immigrants and U.S. citizens a shot at the American Dream. It endangers law enforcement officers, makes our communities less stable, and puts law-abiding workers and businesses at a disadvantage.

Open borders would make all of these problems worse and destroy Americans’ trust in their government. A safe, strong country needs a safe, strong immigration system.

President Trump: America’s seniors will be first in line for a safe, effective vaccine!

President Trump spoke in Florida on Friday at an event on protecting America’s seniors—ensuring that they receive the care, respect, and support they deserve.

“I will protect you, I will defend you, and I will fight for you with every ounce of energy and conviction that I have,” President Trump said. “You devoted your life to this country, and I am devoting my life to you.”

🎬 WATCH: Seniors would pay the price for a left-wing agenda

Average Medicare premiums have dropped by 34% since President Trump took office. Some states have experienced price reductions of over 50% or more. Medicare prescription drug prices have also declined, with premiums down 12% on average.

“I stood up to big pharma, and that’s not easy,” President Trump said. “They got big money. They’re the biggest lobbyists in this country, by far. And I signed an executive order implementing a ‘most favored nations’ policy for the United States,” which ensures that Medicare won’t pay more than other countries for important drugs.

After Coronavirus spread from China across the world, the Trump Administration went to work holding Beijing and the World Health Organization accountable for their failures while protecting the American people from both economic and physical harm.

“I’m moving heaven and earth to safeguard our seniors from the China Virus, to deliver lifesaving therapies in record time, and to distribute a safe and effective vaccine before the end of the year,” President Trump said.

“You’re the generation that defeated fascism and triumphed over communism, sent American astronauts to the Moon. You built our country into the greatest and most powerful nation the world has ever known.”

Our seniors remind us of the extraordinary American legacy that President Trump is fighting to protect.

REMARKS BY PRESIDENT TRUMP AFTER AIR FORCE ONE ARRIVAL Prescott Regional Airport Prescott, Arizona

Office of the Press Secretary
REMARKS BY PRESIDENT TRUMP
AFTER AIR FORCE ONE ARRIVAL

Prescott Regional Airport
Prescott, Arizona

11:36 A.M. MST

THE PRESIDENT:  Hello, everybody.  You know our senator.  You know our governor.  They’re great -- both of them.  And they’re doing a terrific job.

We have a big -- two speeches today.  And we have thousands and thousands of people waiting.  There’s never been anything like this, I will say that, with -- I’m being very humble.  I’ll say that, Jeff.  Is that okay?  But there’s never been anything like it.  We have tremendous crowds.  You saw the lines.  They formed two days ago.

So we’re going to make two stops.  And you’re going to be with us a little bit, and I know you’re going to be with us a little bit.

And we have a very exciting election coming up.  We’re doing very well in North Carolina, very well in Florida, very well pretty much everywhere.  We’re looking -- we’re doing very well.  And when people find out really what we’ve done and how good the economy is and how it’s coming back, the numbers are fantastic.  So we -- we seem to be in very good shape.

     Any questions?

Q    Stimulus.  Can you give us the latest on stimulus talks?  On stimulus talks.

THE PRESIDENT:  Yeah, we’re having talks today.  We’re discussing it today, very solidly.  We’ll see what happens.

Q    Have you talked with Leader McConnell?

THE PRESIDENT:  Nancy Pelosi, at this moment, does not want to do anything that’s going to affect the election.  And I think it will affect the election negatively for her.

So we’ll see what happens.  But there are talks going on as we speak.

Q    Have you talked with Leader McConnell about this?

THE PRESIDENT:  I don’t want to comment on that.  But the Republicans will come along.

Q    Mr. President, why did you criticize Dr. Fauci?  Does it have anything to do with his high standing in public sentiment?

THE PRESIDENT:  No, I think, really, Dr. Fauci is a very nice man, but we let him do what he wants to do.  He gets a lot of television.  He loves being on television, and we let him do it.  Sometimes he says things that are a little bit off, and they get built up, unfortunately.

But he’s a nice guy.  I like him.  But he’s called a lot of bad calls.  He said don’t wear a mask and he said don’t ban China.  They were bad calls.  He admits that.  And I don’t hold that against him.  If I did, I wouldn’t have him.  I think he’s a nice a guy.

Q    Why don’t you fire him?

     THE PRESIDENT:  Huh?

     Q    Why not fire him?

THE PRESIDENT:  I don’t want to.  I don’t want to hurt him.  He’s been there for about 350 years.  I don’t want to hurt him.

Q    You’ve been saying that Dr. Fauci said not to wear a mask, but he’s been saying to wear a mask for months.

THE PRESIDENT:  Well, he used to say don’t wear a mask.  So, you know, you have people on both sides of it.  But I’m okay --

Q    So why are you still quoting that?

THE PRESIDENT:  Excuse me.  I’m okay with masks.  I like it.  I think it’s good.  A lot of people like it.  This gentleman has done an incredible job in Arizona, and he's taken a very tough stand.  But he's let his economy grow.  And, frankly, if they would’ve done that in Michigan and various other places, where the governor just shut it down for everybody except for her husband.

His attitude -- you know, they had a spike, and he let the spike play.  And they were careful.  And now your state is really in great shape.

GOVERNOR DUCEY:  Thank you, Mr. President.  Thank you.

THE PRESIDENT:  What a job.  So proud of him.

Q    Your Chief of Staff said today that there will be a lawsuit filed on Section 230 on the tech companies.  Is it your --

THE PRESIDENT:  Who said that?  Who said that?

Q    Mark Meadows said that, as soon as today, there could be a lawsuit filed.

THE PRESIDENT:  Well, you know --

Q    Is that from the White House?

THE PRESIDENT:  -- they’ve given -- they’ve been given great protection.  And when they take down people like Charlie Kirk -- you know, Charlie Kirk is a terrific person.  And I was -- I just heard that he was taken down.  And how can you take down Charlie Kirk?  He's mainstream conservative but solid as a rock.  He represents a point of view, and he's putting up something from the New York Post, which is a respected newspaper.  I’ll tell you what: The biggest winner in this whole thing is a newspaper called the New York Post, the oldest paper in our country.

So what they have done is really -- I'm very proud of them.

Q    Are you filing a lawsuit?  Or is the campaign filing a lawsuit?

THE PRESIDENT:  You’ll be seeing very soon.

Q    Mr. President, do you understand that when it comes to the science and a new virus, things change; scientists learn new things and that’s why Fauci and some scientists changed their recommendations?

THE PRESIDENT:  You don’t understand.  I understand well.  You don’t understand, and you never have understood.

Q    Is this election going to be a repeat of 2016, given the polls?

THE PRESIDENT:  I think so.  I think we’ll do better than 2016.  We’re way ahead of where we were in 2016, and I've done things that nobody has ever done.  We built the greatest economy in the world, and we’re building it rapidly again.

If you look at Arizona -- you look at the job they’ve done.  And I'm just leaving other states.  I mean, every one of these Republican-run states are doing phenomenally.  The Democrat-run states are not, but they're not going to affect our numbers very much.  I think they're going to open up on November 4th.  They’ll be opening up on November 4th.

And, by the way, the fact that Kristen Welker is, you know, a dyed-in-the-wool radical-left Democrat, or whatever she is --

Q    It’s not true, Mr. President, and you know it.

     Q    That’s not true.

THE PRESIDENT:  Okay.  Okay.  And then ask -- why are you defending her?

Q    That’s not true, Mr. President.

THE PRESIDENT:  Then ask her: Why did she delete her account?  Would you please have her put her account back?

Q    Mr. President, you’ve dealt with her, and you know she's a fine journalist.

THE PRESIDENT:  And you know what?  It’s not going to affect -- I know you want to stick up.  It’s not going to affect me.  I'm going to be there.  But, you know, I told you about the last one, and I was right.  And I told you about Savannah Guthrie, and I was right.  And I'm telling you about Kristen Welker.  Kristen Welker should put all of her statements back on.  She deleted her entire account.  She shouldn’t do that.

Q    What are they going to do with the mics?  Are they trying to have --

     THE PRESIDENT:  The what?

Q    Are they trying to have the moderator be able to turn off the mics?  Is that what --

THE PRESIDENT:  I have no idea.

Q    Mr. President, what are you doing to prepare for the debate, sir?

     THE PRESIDENT:  I'm doing this.

     Q    (Inaudible.)

THE PRESIDENT:  What am I doing to prepare?  I'm doing this.  I've done -- I've done very well in debates.  And, you know, you do what you do.  You just do what you do.

The last debate, I had two on one.  I usually have two on one, at least.  And I did well in the last debate, and we did well with Savannah Guthrie, based on reports.  But all you can do is -- look, you know, you go around; we do interviews with you.  This is like -- I call this "debate prep."  This is actually tougher than a debate, if you want to know the truth.

Q    Will you do the testing before the debate?  And will you authorize your --

     THE PRESIDENT:  Say it?

Q    Will you do the testing before the debate?  And will you au- --

     THE PRESIDENT:  The testing?

Q    Yes, the COVID testing.  Will you authorize your doctors to tell us when --

THE PRESIDENT:  Sure.  I would have no problem with it.

Q    -- the last negative before you --

THE PRESIDENT:  I'm -- not only am I free -- positive, or whatever -- what would you call it?  I'm totally free.  Right?  Not only am I free, I'm immune, they say.  They say if you've had it, you're immune.  Now, the question is, are you immune for four months or for the rest of your life?  That’s the only thing we don’t know.

Q    Will you authorize your doctors to tell you when you tested negative last, before the last event?

THE PRESIDENT:  Sure.  Is that very important to you?

     Q    Yes, sir, it is.

THE PRESIDENT:  You seem to be so intent.  But if it's so important to you -- why is it so important to you?

Q    Because we want to know how long you may have been --

THE PRESIDENT:  I know.  But why?  Why?

Q    We want to know if you followed the rules from the debate commission.

THE PRESIDENT:  I know.  But why is it so important to you?

Q    Will you authorize your doctors to release that information?

THE PRESIDENT:  Look at the dedication.  Yeah, my doctors have already given it.  You know, my doctors have given more information than has been given on any human being in the history of the world.

Q    But have not given that detail, Mr. President.

Q    Mr. President, can you tell us why -- what your campaign strategy seems to be to call Biden a "criminal"?  Why is that?

THE PRESIDENT:  He is a criminal.  He's a criminal.  He got caught --

Q    He was the Vice President of the United States.

THE PRESIDENT:  Read his laptop.  And you know who's a criminal?  You're a criminal for not reporting it.  You are a criminal for not reporting it.

     Q    I'm asking your strategy.

THE PRESIDENT:  Let me tell you something: Joe Biden is a criminal, and he's been a criminal for a long time.  And you're a criminal, and the media, for not reporting it.  Good luck, everybody.  Have a good time.  Have a good time.

Trump Is Strengthening Border Security, Keeping Violent Criminals and Illegal Drugs Out of US

“Anyone who cares about establishing an orderly immigration system and ending the flow of illegal drugs, violent criminals and human traffickers coming across our southern border should take heart from the undeniable fact that President Trump’s administration is winning the fight for border security,” National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd writes for Fox News.

“This is proof of a profound change in the dynamics of migration in a direction most Americans have long supported.”

“A top Federal Communications Commission staffer blasted Twitter” for freezing the New York Post’s Twitter account—while Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is still free to tweet. “The dictator—who once called for the destruction of Israel on the social media site—has posted at least six tweets since Wednesday, when The Post’s account was blocked,” Tamar Lapin reports for the New York Post.
“Health care in America is too bureaucratic, costly, and complex. Self-styled ‘progressive’ politicians claim they have a ‘remedy’ for that; namely, the creation of a new government-run health plan,” four policy experts from the Heritage Foundation write. “If progressives were to enact their massive demolition project, they claim that American health care will be superior . . . Don’t believe it.” Read more in The Daily Signal.

Text of a Letter to the Speaker of the House and President of the Senate

Office of the Press Secretary

October 19, 2020

Dear Madam Speaker: (Dear Mr. President:)

Section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1622(d)), provides for the automatic termination of a national emergency unless, within 90 days before the anniversary date of its declaration, the President publishes in the Federal Register and transmits to the Congress a notice stating that the emergency is to continue in effect beyond the anniversary date.  In accordance with this provision, I have sent to the Federal Register for publication the enclosed notice stating that the national emergency with respect to significant narcotics traffickers centered in Colombia declared in Executive Order 12978 of October 21, 1995, is to continue in effect beyond October 21, 2020.

The circumstances that led to the declaration on October 21, 1995, of a national emergency continue to exist.  The actions of significant narcotics traffickers centered in Colombia continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States and to cause an extreme level of violence, corruption, and harm in the United States and abroad.  For this reason, I have determined that it is necessary to continue the national emergency declared in Executive Order 12978 with respect to significant narcotics traffickers centered in Colombia.

                              Sincerely,

                              DONALD J. TRUMP
