Statement from the Press Secretary Regarding the Passing of President Beji Caid Essebsi of the Republic of Tunisia   President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump join the Tunisian people in mourning the passing of their beloved President, Beji Caid Essebsi. President Caid Essebsi was a tireless advocate for the Tunisian people. The President and First Lady join many around the world in remembering his tremendous leadership and honoring his great legacy as the first democratically elected president of Tunisia after its 2011 revolution. The President and First Lady’s prayers are with President Caid Essebsi’s family at this difficult time.
