Today, President Trump becomes the first American president to visit the city of Marinette, Wisconsin. Marinette was recently awarded a $5 billion Navy shipbuilding contract, which will result in up to 1,000 new manufacturing jobs for the area.
“We will see years of growth as a direct result,” Marinette Mayor Steve Genisot says.
Under President Trump, America is rebuilding our military, reviving our manufacturing sector, and reshoring our critical supply chains. Small communities across the American Heartland have come roaring back to life as a result.
This “Buy American, Hire American” philosophy is helping our economy recover quickly and strongly from the Coronavirus, too. Whereas the Great Recession and Obama nonrecovery hurt middle-class jobs and wages for years, the pro-growth Trump Economy is already shattering expectations once again.
Last month, economists predicted that America would lose 2.5 million jobs. Instead, our country added 7.5 million of them—the largest single-month gain in U.S. history.

Vice President Pence: Protecting faith, school choice, and jobs
Vice President Mike Pence has been on the move this week, meeting with citizens across the country to discuss important issues such as school choice, religious freedom, and America’s economic recovery from the Coronavirus.
Today, he and Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette visited Lordstown Motors in Ohio for the unveiling of their new electric truck—yet another symbol of the manufacturing innovation that is pushing America’s automotive sector to new heights.
“We put China on notice that the era of economic surrender is over,” Vice President Pence said. “We stood strong for American jobs and American workers against China.”
On Tuesday, the Vice President visited Wisconsin, where he joined a roundtable discussion on school choice.
The Trump Administration is working on a new program that will make more than $5 billion in Education Freedom Scholarships available to American families. This effort will empower more parents to choose the school that is right for their kids—whether that be public, private, charter, or religious school.
School choice also came up in a discussion the Vice President held with African-American faith and community leaders at the Tulsa Dream Center in Oklahoma this past weekend. During the meeting, he also addressed President Trump’s recent actions to improve safe policing following the tragic, unjust death of George Floyd.
“As Americans, we grieve together—and we heal together.”
